Bio

Veronica is a contemporary music composer whose work is guided by the belief that music possesses transformative and healing power. From an early age, her exceptional musical talents were unmistakable. Noticing her perfect pitch and extraordinary sense of rhythm, her piano teacher encouraged her gifts, while her mother made a profound sacrifice—investing her entire savings to purchase a piano when Veronica was just five. That pivotal act ignited Veronica’s passion for music and set her on a lifelong journey to becoming a dedicated and innovative musician.
Excellence quickly became her habit. Whether excelling in academics or captivating audiences with her piano performances, she consistently exceeded expectations. Despite being a top student, her parents encouraged her to pursue a different path, leading her to study Civil Engineering.
Yet, music never released its hold on her. During her undergraduate years, Veronica devoted her free time to voracious reading and singing competitions, where she earned notable success. It was during this formative period that she realized the immense power of music and words to shape hearts, inspire communities, and create meaningful change.
Since 2018, Veronica started to study music composition under the mentorship of Professor David Crumb. Since then, she has continued to refine her voice as a composer, blending her rigorous classical training with a vision of accessibility and cultural openness.
Veronica has observed how much of contemporary classical music often circulates within limited academic circles, resonating primarily with trained musicians. In response, she has made it her mission to create music that transcends those boundaries. By blending classical discipline with accessibility and cultural openness, she seeks to compose works that connect deeply with people of all backgrounds.
Veronica’s music is defined by its lyrical voice, cultural depth, and evocative soundscapes. Growing up in Inner Mongolia, she was surrounded by the folk traditions of China, Mongolia, and Russia, influences that continue to shape her use of modal color, spacious textures, and cross-cultural nuance. Her works often blur the lines between intimate chamber writing and cinematic expansiveness, with instruments treated as equal voices in dialogue rather than as soloist and accompaniment. Jang’s music reveals a sensitivity to silence, atmosphere, and organic pacing, allowing sound to unfold like a natural landscape. Her style balances personal narrative and emotional transparency with meditative stillness and vivid dramatic power. Through this fusion of tradition, storytelling, and innovation, Jang’s voice offers listeners a distinctive musical experience that bridges worlds while speaking with intimate honesty. For her, music is more than an art form—it is a bridge between cultures, a universal language of healing, and an invitation for every listener to feel the fire of the composer’s heart.
Veronica’s compositions are performed by featured artists, including the MoVE Modern Violin Ensemble, the Delgani String Quartet, and Piano 4×5. Her violin ensemble work ‘Gobi – Desert Splendor’ is recorded on MoVE’s album, which was produced by Phenotypic Recording (in San Francisco)and will be released soon.
